The objective of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is to give partial compensation to pregnant women and lactating mothers who were working and had to experience a wage-loss due to the pregnancy. The period of pregnancy requires a woman to take additional nutrition to sustain the pregnancy and deliver a healthy child. The cash incentive provided with the help of three installments can be used to meet at least the daily requirement of nourishment solely for the use of pregnant women. Under PMMVY, a cash incentive of 5000/- would be provided directly in the account of Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers(PW&LM) for first living child of the family subject to their fulfilling specific conditions relating to Maternal and Child Health.

Beneficiary:

Pregnant women and lactating mothers will be benefited during the birth of the first live Child.

Benefits:

The government will pay the amount in the following installments- First Instalment- Early Registration of pregnancy 1,000/- Second Instalment- Received at least one ANC (can be claimed after 6 months of pregnancy) 2,000/- Third Instalment i. Child Birth is registered ii. Child has received first cycle of BCG, OPV,DPT and Hepatitis-B or its equivalent/substitute 2,000/-

How To Apply

The eligible women desirous of availing maternity benefits are required to register under the scheme at the Anganwadi Centre (AWC). Pregnant women will have to fill three forms (first form, second form, third form) for applying in this scheme.
• For registration and claiming the first installment, the mother child protection card or MCP card, copy of the beneficiary and her husband’s identity certificate and the beneficiary’s bank or post office account details and the duly filled Form 1A will have to be submitted.
• To claim the second installment, the beneficiary must submit a duly filled Form 1B along with a copy of the MCP card showing at least one delivery check six months after conception.
• To claim the third installment, a copy of the child’s birth registration from the beneficiary and the MCP card clearly indicating that the child has completed the first stage of vaccination and together with the duly filled Form 1C will have to be submitted
If the application is made from time to time and all the necessary documents are attached, then the concerned officer will release the installment amount which will be directly deposited in Benificiary bank or post office account.
